there's no typical means of transcribing Arabic phrases into western script. the primary effect on these pages is on place names, and that minor term el for "the" - a standard prefix - is a great instance. Arabic will not spell out limited vowels so el may be "al" or "il" (from time to time even "ul"). It would not distinguish higher and decreased
